The Big Reveal.

It has been a long time coming.  The boys finally have big boy beds, two twin beds, with matching comforters and pillows that have their names embroidered in them.  I am so excited that they are sharing a room.  I may be more excited about this move than they are, but so far they are enjoying being together.  As I sit writing this, I can hear them giggling and talking to each other.  Mike has just gone into their room to tell them to shut their eyes, Ollie promptly laughs in his face and says "no".  Oh, this is just the beginning of Ollie's defiance.  Drew is quietly telling Ollie to go to sleep, that it's not playtime.  Ha.  He is definitely my rule follower.

In any case, we ordered these beds about a month ago.  We took down the crib on Sunday and Mike's grand idea was to let them sleep in a tent for two nights.  I was a bit skeptical of this...what parents let their kids sleep in a tent?  But, we did and they thoroughly enjoyed it.  They did sleep all night.  Drew told his teacher, Ms. Tasha, that Ollie's crib was broken and they got to sleep in a tent.  Thankfully, I had told her a week ago they were getting new beds so she didn't report us to DFCS.

The beds finally came today.  The boys were off at school and I was able to get their room set up, get rid of all the toys I hate, and rearrange things the way I think they should be.  We over ordered on furniture, so when the moving guys arrived - I had to tell them not to get out the night stand and dresser.  The pieces were going to be too big, so we sent them back.  I'm happy we did.  The beds are plenty.

It was a perfect day.  When they arrived home, Ollie didn't want to come inside to see his room because he wanted to rake in the yard, or dig with his shovel.  Drew wanted nothing to do with that, he wanted to go see his new room - but I made him wait until we could coerce Ollie upstairs at the same time, which we did, with shovel in hand.

They loved the room.  They bounced and jumped all over the beds.  Drew did not want anyone getting on his bed except for Bear, Monkey, and Murphy.  Obviously.  I should have predicted that.  Ollie needs help getting on and off his bed, but that was to be expected since the bed is quite tall in comparison to him.  I figure that this is best because I really don't want him getting in and out of his bed in the middle of the night by himself, so this is probably a best case scenario.

Out of all the rooms I have done for them, this is my favorite.  For once I feel like it was done right.  I still have a few touches I am working on adding, but for the most part, it's put together.

Baby Furniture needing a new home!

Ollie was in tears today crying, "My Bed!" as we dismantled his crib this morning.  I admit, it is somewhat sad when you come to the end of an era.  But, the fact is, we no longer have a baby in the house.  Ollie will be 2 this spring!  Come Tuesday between the hours of 10am and 2pm, two brand-new "big boy" twin beds will be delivered for Drew and Ollie.  They will be moving into the same room together, and Elizabeth will be reclaiming her long-awaited guest room.  So no more climbing up two flights of stairs to get to a shower, Grammy and Pa.  Unfortunately though, that means two more nights to go without beds for Drew and Ollie.  I decided to set up the tent in their new bedroom and have a little camp out until the new beds arrive on Tuesday.

Fortunately for ya'll, since we now have two little boys (big boys if you ask them), our baby furniture needs to go.  If you see something you like, it is just a few clicks away!  It would fill our hearts with joy to know another little boy or girl would love these things as much as ours had.  Are you interested?  Email Elizabeth at eah1975@yahoo.com or send her a message on Facebook.

Our inventory includes (kids not included):

(2) Cribs
(1) Glider and ottoman
(1) Changing table/drawers
(1) Toddler bed
(1) High Chair
Baby Monitor
Baby Bottle Sterilizer machine
LOTS of blankets, burp cloths, bibs, crib sheets, bumpers (see below), etc.

I guess you could say, Elizabeth has decided we aren't having any more kids.

The Sweetest Things.

I love my boys.  When I'm at work, I often think about how good I have it.  I work at a high school and the things I have seen and heard and dealt with lately have been quite depressing.  So when I'm at home, I am so excited about the two little lives in front of me.  How innocent they are, and silly, and just completely in the moment.  They make me laugh out loud.  Yesterday in the car, on the way home from school, Ollie was screaming at the top of his lungs (because he likes to be loud), "Ollllllieeeeee LOUD".  Literally screaming this, and then laughing at himself, and then scream it again.  Drew, however, did not find this funny at all.  He had his hands over his ears in the backseat, telling me to "make him stop." I told Ollie, "Ollie, Drew is sad when you scream loudly.  Can you please stop for Drew?"  He turned and looked at Drew and said, "Sorry, Drew."  Then, I looked in the rearview mirror and Ollie was pretend screaming, "Ollie loud" - mouthing the words, and chuckling to himself.  Too funny.  These are the moments I live for.

They are such sweet things.  I swear I could have asked Ollie to be quiet but he wouldn't have done it for me, only for his big brother does he do things like that.  They have a bond for each other like no other.

So, today is valentine's day.  They had fun parties at school, at lots of treats and were excited about the valentine's they received from all their classmates.  Tonight at dinner we exchanged cards and I got the boys (all of them) a heart shaped box of chocolates.  I told Ollie and Drew they could eat 'til their hearts content because it's Valentine's Day.  I thought for sure they would have devoured the whole box, but they didn't.  In fact, after one chocolate Drew said, "I'll save the rest for later."  He neatly closed up his box and is saving it for later.  Ollie, on the other hand, took a small bite out of each piece of chocolate in the box and put them back one by one.  I had to help him get the top back on because he couldn't figure it out.  Mike ate most of his box.  Even if I didn't watch them all eat their chocolates, there is no doubt I could tell whose is whose.

I received some absolutely gorgeous sunflowers that Drew and Mike promptly cut and put into a vase, and Ollie helped put the water in the vase.  They are very pretty.  I'll also say that I'm sick....again....and Mike brought home some delicious Panera soup for me to eat and now I'm going to take some Nyquil before bed.  So romantic.  You know you have a good man when he's bringing home soup and flowers.

Happy Valentine's Day.
