One of my most favorite activities during the holiday season is decorating christmas cookies. About a week ago I decided we should have a cookie decorating party with some of Drew's friends and their families. I set up an evite and sent it out to five of Drew's friends. It was a completely last minute thing to do, but I was running out of time with the holidays on our heels. After the responses came to me, it was determined that only one of his friends could come. I thought about changing the party to a different day but there wasn't another day that would work for everyone, so we decided to leave it as is. I have to say, I'm glad we did. It was a lot of fun! And, I think it may have been a little too much with more people. Everything always works out as it should.
Drew's friend, Molly, is one of his dearest friends from school. Not to mention that they have been by each other's side since they were infants. I absolutely adore Molly. She is a party girl and is not afraid to share her opinion, which from one opinionated girl to another, I love this about her. She also wanted to wear her pearls today. She has a pretend pearl necklace that she is wearing in the pictures. I love this. She is also incredibly sweet, as is her younger brother, Mack, who also joined us at the party. He is about six months younger than Ollie. He is a climber and very curious! Jill & Mark are the parents of this brood and we really enjoyed seeing them for more than the standard few minutes we typically see each other on an average day.
The decorating for the kids lasted for about three or four cookies, then they took off running and being silly around the house. There is nothing better than watching friends be silly together, especially when they are three-year-olds. Drew randomly puked up everything he had eaten halfway through the party (did we mention he had a full lunch about an hour before their arrival). However, after he got that out, he was in a very jolly mood and acted like nothing had happened. I thought it was a major downer for the party, but because Mark and Jill are such wonderful people they stayed a bit longer to continue decorating cookies. I will feel horrible if later this week either of their children are ill. I do think it was just a case of a too full tummy, but we shall see.
I can hardly believe this year is soon coming to a close. Where has the time gone? Ollie will be 19 months this week. He is, as mentioned in several previous blogs, quite artsy. He really enjoyed painting the cookies and then coloring on paper with the other kids.
