The Snoopy Conundrum

For months now we have been reading Charlie Brown books.  Last Christmas my friend Chandra gave Drew and Ollie a book based on "A Charlie Brown Christmas," about Charlie Brown picking out the ugliest tree and the Peanuts gang vilifying him in the middle of the story, only to have them take back everything they said and find their christmas spirit.  Well, ever since he received that book, he has wanted to read it almost every night, even in the summer months.  This is the type of book where it shows a picture of Charlie Brown or Linus and then Drew gets to push a button and you can hear the characters' voices.  Well, he loves the Charlie Brown voice, "Good Grief".  So, now that halloween is fast approaching, Mike and I purchased the "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" book which does the same thing.  He gets to push buttons and hear all the voices, etc.  Well, he has fallen head over heels in love with Snoopy.  Who can blame him?  Snoopy is adorable.
The big predicament is that weeks ago he picked out his halloween costume which was, at that time, Buzz Lightyear.  In fact, he wore it home from the store because he was so excited about it.  What does this mean to me?  I can't return it!  The dilemma is that now that he has fallen in love with the beloved beagle, Snoopy, he wants to be Snoopy for halloween.  He's not allowed to change his mind....doesn't he know we have already purchased Buzz Lightyear, not to mention how that will make Buzz feel to be reduced to nothing?

I came up with a new plan after much thought.  He will be Buzz Lightyear and I have found some very cute trick or treat bags with Snoopy on them.  He picked one out tonight and agreed that he could carry Snoopy in his hand, but wear his Buzz Lightyear costume.  We shall see how this goes....

Obviously we also needed a bag for Ollie.  He deserves a Snoopy, too.  Happy Halloween! Everyone.
