A Snake in the Bed

We went to Cracker Barrel for dinner Friday night.  Naturally Drew was immediately drawn to all the  unusual stuff in the Cracker Barrel store from the moment we walked in.  His attention soon focused on this Scooby-Doo airplane fan toy candy thing.   I know you're all like, "huh?", but it doesn't matter, we did not get it.

Drew, being a three-year-old, wanted nothing to do with his chicken strips.  But, we knew if he didn't eat, then, we'd soon have grumpy Drew on our hands, and grumpy Drew is no fun at all.  As anyone who either has or had kids knows, sometimes you have to bribe them to eat their dinner.  The bribe was one chicken strip for the Scooby-Doo toy, and it worked.

After dinner when it came time to pay the bill, Drew chose which Scooby he wanted, but wait, oooo what else is in this store.  I really didn't want him to have more candy, so I sort of coerced him to the toy section.  When he saw all his other choices, he dumped Scooby like a bad habit.  I gave both boys the choice of an airplane, fire truck, scooper (front loader), some other stuff, this and that, and etc.  Ollie chose a water and glitter-filled ball with an eye ball floating in it.  Drew could not decide, and Mike and I were losing our patience.  Drew was a heart beat away from being extracted from the store screaming without a toy when he spotted the articulated wooden snake.

He named it Floppy before we even got to the car.

Drew is in love with Floppy.  Floppy gets all of Drew's kisses and hugs, and Floppy is just as affectionate kissing Drew in return, and Mom, and Dad and even Ollie.  Floppy is not shy at all about going down my shirt either.  Floppy gets to sleep with Drew, and go for car rides.  Floppy has not replaced Bear, but Floppy is a close second.  "I love you, Floppy."  Floppy does have a subtle, yet very sweet smile.

Dad is a little creeped out.

Welcome to the family, Floppy!
